Your potential in Christ | Two Minute Daily Devotional

All of us once were sinners whom God loved, chose, fashioned and created. As an evangelist I know that when God looks at sinners, He doesn’t just see alcoholics, drug addicts, the hopeless broken lives. What He sees is the potential, what you can be when He touches you! God is always seeing the future. When you were still a sinner, God saw something in you He wanted. Sometimes it takes a long time – with Moses it took 80 years to form the real man that God could use to do the job! If only you knew what God sees in you, if you could see yourself as He sees you, not as you see yourself! What a difference it could make in your life if you would recognise your potential with God!
When God deals with you, He does something unique. So often we want what other people have. In my relationship with God, I have never wanted what somebody else has. I want what is in His Word, what God has for me personally! Don’t copy other people. If you want the power of God, that power is not going to come from somebody else. Yes, others can lay their hands on you, but the power is going to come from God. Not from me, nor from someone else. You must get it direct from God and His Word.
I was only 14 when I was baptised in the Holy Ghost. What I wanted was what was in the Bible, the baptism of fire, of power. I knew that when the fire came down on 120 people in the Upper Room, they became fiery evangelists – and immediately Peter held the first evangelistic crusade of the early Church!

God is looking for those He can use | Two Minute Daily Devotional

God had to reduce Gideon’s army to only 300. Why? Because God can only use willing, obedient, committed people who will make His glory the first priority. God needs the right men and women in order to do what He wants, to bring glory to His Name, to bring deliverance to nations, to build His church – He’s looking everywhere, to find those through whom He can direct all His power, and energy into saving sinners.
If only you can fully understand the love that God has for the sinner. Why? First, He wants to save them from the fire of hell; second, because He needs them to fulfil His purpose in bringing the glory of Christ to the world.
Look how much of God’s time and energy is directed towards saving the sinner! The lost sheep takes priority over the safe ones in God’s plan every time! In my crusades I do not see the people as others might – all the energy and power of God is being concentrated at that moment on reaching these people’s hearts, not merely their heads – I see individuals whom God desperately wants in the Kingdom because I know what God wants to do in their lives.

Faithful Stewards of Christ | Lessons from 1 Corinthians 4 (Part 3)

So Apollos and I should be looked upon as Christ’s servants who distribute God’s blessings by explaining God’s secrets. Now the most important thing about a servant is that he does just what his master tells him to, (1 Corinthians 4.1-2, TLB).
The Corinthians had begun acting spiritually superior, as though they had already “arrived.” Paul contrasts their self-confidence with the reality of apostolic ministry, which involved suffering, humility, rejection, and endurance. True spiritual leadership is marked by sacrifice, not status.
Paul speaks to them as a spiritual father, correcting them out of love. His goal is restoration, not punishment. He reminds them that the Kingdom of God is not just talk, but power – genuine faith produces transformed lives, not just impressive words.

God has a plan and strategy in everything He does | Two Minute Daily Devotional

God has always had a clear plan and strategy in everything He does. From creation to salvation, nothing has happened in heaven or earth without the foreknowledge of God. An important part of the strategy which God has for today is that He wants to show that His power is not just in heaven, but also demonstrated very powerfully on earth. 
We know that in His personal relationship with you, He loves, He heals, He forgives – you, personally. But there is something God wants more than your healing, more even than your salvation – what God wants right now is to see Jesus so powerfully exalted, so powerfully glorified, so that when He returns at His Second Coming – every knee shall bow and the whole world will worship at the name of Jesus – which is going to happen in the near future. Therefore, this is a major spiritual issue now! 
God wants to use you to bring glory to the name of Jesus! This means that there must come a time when we stop asking God for what He can do for us, and begin to ask what we can do for Him!
Our Christian lives need to change from the passive to the active. God wants to put power into YOUR life. In the West many want to receive healing, finances – something for themselves. The Bible is full of promises that He will heal us – but why? Why did God heal my throat cancer? So that I would give my life for Russia and the glory of Christ!

Faithful Stewards of Christ | Lessons from 1 Corinthians 4 (Part 2)

'So be careful not to jump to conclusions before the Lord returns as to whether someone is a good servant or not. When the Lord comes, he will turn on the light so that everyone can see exactly what each one of us is really like, deep down in our hearts. Then everyone will know why we have been doing the Lord’s work. At that time God will give to each one whatever praise is coming to him.
'I have used Apollos and myself as examples to illustrate what I have been saying: that you must not have favorites. You must not be proud of one of God’s teachers more than another. What are you so puffed up about? What do you have that God hasn’t given you? And if all you have is from God, why act as though you are so great, and as though you have accomplished something on your own?
'You seem to think you already have all the spiritual food you need. You are full and spiritually contented, rich kings on your thrones, leaving us far behind! I wish you really were already on your thrones, for when that time comes you can be sure that we will be there, too, reigning with you. Sometimes I think God has put us apostles at the very end of the line, like prisoners soon to be killed, put on display at the end of a victor’s parade, to be stared at by men and angels alike,' (1 Corinthians 4.5-9, TLB).
In 1 Corinthians 4, Paul addresses the issues of pride, division, and spiritual arrogance within the Corinthian church. He reminds believers that church leaders are not celebrities to be ranked or compared, but servants of Christ and stewards of God’s truth. The primary requirement for a steward is not popularity or human approval, but faithfulness.
Paul urges the Corinthians to think of him, Peter and Apollos as mere servants of Christ entrusted with the secret things of God. A servant does what his master tells him to do. We must do what God tells us to do. We must do what God tells us to do in the Bible and through His Holy Spirit. Healed of lung cancer, Pt4 | Two Minute Daily Devotional

Isaiah 53:5 says Jesus was wounded for our sin, bruised for our iniquity and with His stripes we are healed. Matthew 8:16-17 says Jesus healed all that were sick to fulfil what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah. So healing is to fulfil Bible prophecy! I talk about Bible prophecy, I write about it in Prophetic Vision magazine, but part of Bible prophecy is healing the sick. I believe Bible prophecy. Some people say that healing was only for the time of Jesus. But this prophecy is not ended. Jesus only healed for three years. There are more miracles of healing today than at any time in the history of the church – all over the world. Today in Russia this is how we are showing the glory of God, live on TV – seeing big miracles, every time I preach the Gospel!
Talking of the last days in Matthew 24:14 Jesus says: ‘This Gospel shall be preached in all the world for a witness to the nations, and then shall the end come.’ Jesus did not say there will be a worldwide revival. He said the preaching of the Gospel will be a witness to all nations, a demonstration to the whole world. My responsibility before God is not only to preach the Gospel, but to demonstrate the power of our God with authority. We have power in the Holy Ghost and we have authority in the Name of Jesus. I didn’t go to a healing evangelist, I went to the Word of God and God completely healed me – no operation, no treatment – I only had God and the Bible, and that’s all I needed to confound the doctors. They were shocked, they didn’t believe God. But I do, I believe in a God of power, of miracles.

God said to me, ‘David, you’ve got a mountain in your life that you’ve got to move, and that mountain is to get that cancer out from your lung. If you can believe that without an operation you can be completely healed, then nothing will be impossible from there on.’ Now desperately seeking God’s answer from Scripture, I was reading from Jeremiah 33:6, ‘I will bring health and healing’; and Jeremiah 33:20-21, ‘I will not break my covenant with David’; and Psalm 89:35, ‘I will not lie to David’; and ‘Is anything impossible with God?’ (Jeremiah 32:17&27).
On the Monday I was in the hospital, tubes down my lung looking for cancer – but God had already given me the answer, I knew it was gone. The doctors looked at me in amazement and said, ‘You have no cancer!’
I didn’t go to a healing evangelist, I went to the Word of God and God completely healed me – no operation, no treatment – I only had God and the Bible, and that’s all I needed to confound the doctors. They were shocked, they didn’t believe God. But I do, I believe in a God of power, of miracles.

Holy Ghost Fire: From Pentecost to the Latter Rain (with Vinesong) | Legacy Episode

Through the prophet Joel, God says, 'I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh...' He goes on to talk about the first and the latter rain. I believe that the first rain fell 2000 years ago on the Day of Pentecost, and that today we are living in the days of the latter rain. As a young man I was determined I would have an experience with God that was incorruptible, that could not be destroyed, that would last until the appearing of Christ! In the late 1950s, I heard that the first World Pentecostal Conference in Jerusalem would be held on the Day of Pentecost, in May 1961. - I was determined to be there to receive a new baptism of fire! My Bible says that the church of God began in fire on the Day of Pentecost, and the church will end in fire when Christ returns! At the time I thought I hadn't received what I was looking for, but forty years later, I realised God had completely changed my life!

Healed of lung cancer, Pt 2 | Two Minute Daily Devotional

I believe in prayer and in a God of miracles. But I am faced with a challenge: do I really believe God or not? Isaiah 53:5 says Jesus was wounded for our sin, bruised for our iniquity and with His stripes we are healed.
The doctors became extremely worried, they didn’t want me to travel overseas and they set up exhaustive tests in a hurry. They said bluntly, ‘It’s not pneumonia, you have lung cancer.’
On the following Monday I had to go for a bronchoscopy when they would put a camera down my lung and take a sample of the growth. The doctors had already fast-tracked me into a process which would lead to an operation to remove all or part of my right lung – on the Wednesday I was booked to go in for the final verdict. The only question, how much of my lung they would take away?
I said, ‘Lord, how can I go back into Russia and preach like I preach and say that You are a mighty God of miracles who’s got power to do everything, including healing cancer, if I have got half of my right lung cut out, followed by chemotherapy? If You have finished with me, if my ministry is over, then don’t heal me, because if I can no longer evangelise I might as well die, desperately seeking God’s answer from Scripture, I was reading from Jeremiah 33:6, ‘I will bring health and healing’; and Jeremiah 33:20-21, ‘I will not break my covenant with David’; and Psalm 89:35, ‘I will not lie to David’; and ‘Is anything impossible with God?’ (Jeremiah 32:17&27).

In December 2002, as part of the process of getting a resident’s permit in Ukraine, in order to prove I did not have TB which is endemic out there, I had to have a lung X-ray. But the doctors called me back, took more X-rays, and then told me I had a shadow on my lung and that I had pneumonia. Probably I had already had it for over a month, because I remember a fever had started on the last day of October while I was evangelising in Siberia.
Back in England I was treated with antibiotics, but after two courses of treatment I went again for X-rays and the patch on my lung was bigger. The doctors became extremely worried, they didn’t want me to travel overseas and they set up exhaustive tests in a hurry. They said bluntly, ‘It’s not pneumonia, you have lung cancer.’
I prayed about it, and I did go overseas to carry out my ministry, but the day after I got back the hospital process started. On the Thursday I had the CT (computer tomography) scan and it showed the cancer.

Well, I don’t worry over what you think about this or what anyone else thinks. I don’t even trust my own judgment on this point. My conscience is clear, but even that isn’t final proof. It is the Lord himself who must examine me and decide.

I love to see God heal people that the doctors cannot help! | Two Minute Daily Devotional

I love to see God heal people that the doctors cannot help! To me, the real miracles of healing are when doctors have tried to heal and failed, then God takes over and by a miracle does what the most expert of doctors cannot do. I have seen many people healed of broken bones and the effects of accidents, especially young people, and many other young ones born blind, deaf, crippled, where medical science can do nothing.
I love to tell of the 22-year-old girl in Australia who was born with a spinal deformity and grew instantly 10 cm taller. And the young man in East Germany who had steel pins inserted into his right hip, knee and ankle, because of a motor accident. The miracle was, God literally melted the steel pins and he could kneel and squat and bend his joints freely! And the 22-year-old boy in a Russian hospital, dying from the effects of drug abuse, AIDS and gangrene in his right leg. They wanted to amputate his leg above the knee, but I knew he would die, because the AIDS had damaged his immune system. I told him not to have the operation, that God would heal him. I said, ‘When I come to Perm next time, you and I will stand on the platform together and give glory to God for your healing!’ Six months later I was back in Perm, holding a crusade live on TV to the whole region. On the first night I made an appeal to Anton via the TV broadcast to come and tell about his healing. Sure enough, on the next night, Anton was there on the platform with me to give glory to God just as I had told him he would! Anton had believed, refused the operation, and walked out of the hospital – healed! Now he is healed of AIDS, married, and in Bible school training to be an evangelist like me! This is why we see revival! Not my preaching, but God’s miracles are the greatest testimony. 

Tested by Fire: Foundations That Last | Lessons from 1 Corinthians 3 (Part 3)

The foundation of our Christian life is Christ Himself and the Word of God. But now Paul says, “Let every man take heed how he builds on that foundation!” What a challenge to leaders and pastors - and today’s influencers! V11, “There is no other foundation can be laid except Jesus Christ” - not some preacher, not Paul, not even David Hathaway! Come on! It has to be Christ who is the foundation on which our Christian lives are built!
You’ve got then to be careful how and what you build on that foundation, v12. “If any man build upon this foundation, gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay or stubble - every man’s work shall be revealed - by fire on that Day!” Did you know that? It’s not just the sinner who gets tried and then cast into the fire, but when Christ comes back, when you enter the Kingdom, what you have done will be tested by fire! Fire will test everyone of us! You, me, every Christian believer. V14ff, if your work, what you’ve built, survives, you will receive a reward!
When I grew up, I was taught that there’s a reward in the Kingdom for faithfulness! What we do down here is building a home for ourselves for the whole of eternity! Some build with hay or stubble - it won’t last, it won’t stand the fire! I don’t want riches or fame down here. Jesus said, “What does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his soul?” You can be the richest, most powerful man on earth - Putin or Donald Trump, whoever. But in eternity it’s gone! I know what Putin built, it wasn’t on Christ.
For some, if our work is burned, v15, we will suffer loss, but we ourselves will be saved - if our foundation is Christ. What you do after salvation - is tested by fire. Everything you build for your own profit and gain will be burned up. V16, “Don’t you know that you are the Temple, the House of God? … if any man defiles the Temple of God, God will destroy him, for God is Holy, and you are His Temple!!! 
Even leaders in the Church can find that their work is destroyed and they’re only saved as out of the fire. Church, imagine your reaction if your house were burned down! But, v23, “You are Christ’s and Christ is God’s”!

Healing: Medicine and Miracles | Two Minute Daily Devotional

Q. Are you opposed to traditional medicine?
A. No, I’m not, there are wonderful Christian doctors. If I have a toothache, I go to the dentist; and yes I wear spectacles for my eyes, but I have no eye disease and gradually God has restored my sight – I don’t have bi-focal lenses and the lenses are so weak, the optician says that I can do without altogether. If I have a health problem, yes I visit the doctor. If he diagnoses a problem then I know what to pray for specifically. When I had the lung problem in 2002 I went to the doctor, at first I thought it was merely pneumonia possibly through overwork and tiredness. When it did not clear up I returned to the doctor who sent me to the hospital, where I had every kind of test. By that time, I was bleeding through the nose and failed the breath-test, however one of my daughters, a qualified nurse said, ‘Have the X-ray and the CT scan – until the doctors confirm that you have lung cancer you cannot prove the miracle of a God who can heal that cancer!’ The cancer was confirmed, God healed me, and then the doctors confirmed that, without any treatment, my healing was a miracle! 
I believe that with God, prevention is better than cure and we should not abuse our bodies, which can cause sickness. Often when people come to me for healing I can recognise, without being a doctor, that their problem is due to a wrong lifestyle. If you smoke, you are likely to get lung cancer; if you put on very excessive weight, you run the risk of diabetes and heart problems. These are facts. Yes, God can heal you, but I recommend that a healthy diet can mean prevention rather than cure.

Faith to move mountains | Two Minute Daily Devotional

It does not take enormous faith, but the child-like, seed-like faith of a simple believer to move mountains. I know, because I have commanded ‘mountains’ and seen them move many times! I once listened to criticism and as a result I became so discouraged, I stopped organising big crusades and praying for the sick. Because of that, for some years I saw no-one healed. Even today, after a meeting where I see the sick healed, I will often go home and grieve more over ones I didn’t see healed (or who didn’t repent), than rejoice over the miracles I did see. It only drives me once more to fast and pray for more Holy Spirit power, to be more like Jesus in my ministry. Jesus preached the Gospel – so I do; Jesus healed the sick – so I do. 
Smith Wigglesworth has gone down in history as a man of faith. Why? Because of the healing miracles. We need more like him in the church today! In the Bible Jesus said simply, ‘Preach the Gospel, heal the sick.’ In faith I believe it – I do it – I see it.
Surprisingly in the crusades in Russia I see many people healed who have absolutely no faith but who come in desperate need. God sees their desperation!
