The more difficult the situation the greater the Power of God (with Vinesong)

We are living through a very critical time but let me encourage you: the more difficult the situation, the greater the Power of God! In Deuteronomy 4, the Lord says to the Israelites that they will be scattered among the nations and be left few in number (v27) – isn’t that the situation we are in today? The church has been scattered; we are unable to fellowship like we did at the beginning of the year; we now worship alone at home; for the churches that have reopened, the attendance is few in number. But God says in v29, ‘If from there you will seek the Lord your God, and you will find Him if you seek Him with all your heart and with all your soul.’

Saved through Faith (with Vinesong)

We must come to God with a positive expectation of faith, believing that when we pray according to His Will, not only does He hear us, but He will answer! God rewards faith! Far too many people pray without any real belief that God will answer them. I want to remind you, even when we pray the sinner’s prayer, we must believe that God has heard and answered us. The writer to the Hebrews said, ‘He who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him’ (11.6).

When there is a crisis in our lives our only hope is Christ. You - we - have to get an answer from God! When Jesus was on earth, people asked Him direct for what they wanted. We have to do the same, but through prayer. I want to teach you three keys to receiving a miracle: Prayer, Faith & Relationship.

The Power of Prayer and Faith (with Vinesong)

Prayer and faith are inextricably linked: one cannot function without the other. Mark 11 is so revolutionary, so powerful, it has changed my life! In v22, Jesus says, “Have faith in God!” – Faith in God is the key to receiving every miracle. Then He says, “Truly I say to you, whoever you are, look up, see the mountain over there – if you have got faith in God, you will say to that mountain ‘be cast down into the sea’ and if you don’t doubt in your heart but believe that what you say will happen, you shall have whatever you say!” Wow! If you really believe what you say, you will speak – and the mountain will move! Whatever you say, if you speak with faith and authority, and don’t doubt, you will be healed, your family will be blessed, your financial burden will move – even if these things are mountains in your life!

We all need the healing power of Jesus

We all need the healing power of Jesus; it doesn’t matter who we are, we all experience powerful storms in our lives. One of the interesting aspects of the coronavirus is how it has affected and infected people of all wealth and social position: whether Prime Minister, heir to the Throne, or isolated pensioner. In Luke 7&8, there are three different people who come to Jesus in their desperation: Roman Centurion, religious leader, and an unnamed woman. For the centurion, no amount of military power can solve his problem; for Jairus, religion and ceremony couldn’t prevent his crises; and for the unnamed woman, she spent all her money on doctors, but had only gotten worse. Each were drawn to Jesus by their need – and each received the miracle they so desperately desired. Jesus says to you, as He said to them, “Fear not, only believe!” Come to Jesus. It is the only way to be set free and experience the release you so desperately desire.

Come unto Jesus and receive rest for your soul

We all have problems we need Jesus to resolve; healing, deliverance, forgiveness… stop struggling and come into His open arms. So many have secret problems, too deep, too hurtful, you cannot open up. Talk to Jesus. It is the only way to be set free and experience the release you so desperately desire. We all need to be loved: God so loved you that He gave His only Son. – Receive these words deep within your heart: you are loved by God. Jesus promises: “Come to Me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.”

Teach me how to pray (with Vinesong)

I want to teach you the greatest lesson in answered prayer. Our God is a prayer-answering God. Don't take no for an answer, keep on asking, God will give you what you need. That applies to sickness, to every problem in your life. Jesus said, "I say to you, ask, and it will be given, seek and you will find, knock and it will be opened." Don't take no for an answer. Persist. Keep on calling on God. He will answer!

I will give you favour (with Vinesong)

God always reinforces and fulfils every promise He makes. In Exodus 3.21, He says, ‘I will give you favour in the eyes of the Egyptians; you will not leave empty handed.’ I find this one of the most amazing promises in all Scripture, because God commands the Israelites to go to their slave-masters and borrow all kinds of precious and valuable items. I believe there comes a time when God will give us – you and me – for the furtherance of the Gospel, the riches of the world. If we, as the righteous, are in obedience to the Lord, He will meet our every need. I remember in 1994 when God sent me to evangelise Siberia, I had no support, but He promised me the men, the money and the materials. Can I tell you; God met every need! Not only did we evangelise for three months there, but we went back the next year, and I’ve continued to return; and every time God is faithful to His promise and command. Our faith and confidence is not in men, but in Jesus: He is our way-maker and promise-keeper.

The day of fulfilment (with Vinesong)

Don’t talk to me only about a vision for the future. The vision is for now, today! This is the day of fulfilment! I have the power – Pentecost fell on me – I have the glory of God – and so do you! The glory of God is here – just open your eyes and see! Get the vision. Mix your vision with faith. Act! Nothing is impossible!

Called to do the impossible

God so often uses the impossible as an evidence of His great Power: like with Moses, God may ask you to do the impossible, He may even harden the hearts of those He’s called you to speak to. What we see as impossible, when we have the call, the commission, the command of God, as we go in His Name, He will demonstrate His Power and do the impossible through us. Let me warn you: if Moses had not responded to the call of God, the people would not have been freed; likewise with us, some people's freedom is dependent on our obedience. 

Consecration through Fire (with Vinesong)

I want to challenge you to live in the Fire of God, to re-consecrate your life to Jesus. When did you last hear God speak and you replied, "here I am Lord"? When Moses said, "Here I am", God began to deal with him. The spark from the Fire got into the soul of Moses and restored him. I want that Fire in my life. I want something new from God. I want to get into the Fire where it's hot; I want to feel the heat, the power and the glory of God.

How do we know God is with us?

How do we know God is with us when we are in the midst of trial and tribulation? Moses asked this very question, to which God responded in the most unusual way: ‘I will be with you. And this will be the sign to you that it is I who have sent you: when you have brought the people out of Egypt, you will worship God on this mountain’ (Exodus 3.12). You will know God is with you, when, after you have come through your tribulation and are living in victory, you will look back and see the Hand of God guiding and directing you. God will say, ‘I led, I was in control; I Am.’
In retrospect, when we look back on our lives – and this is the advantage I have at my age – the one thing I am conscious of, as I look back over my life, every step, every decision, everything that happened, was part of God’s plan and purpose: to the extent that looking back, I need to give God the glory for all that He has done in my life. – This is the evidence of God: it is in the retrospect that He was leading us.

The Power of Jesus to calm storms (with Vinesong)

Most of us experience some powerful storms in our lives. That is why we need the reality of the Man who can conquer them. Let me challenge you: what kind of Man is Jesus? Wherever I go, He’s in the boat. I’d rather be in a ‘storm’ with Jesus than living in calm and peace without Him. I want you to know this real Jesus in your life.

The ever increasing glory of God (with Vinesong)

I want you to experience the glory of God; to behold Him face to face. During those months of torture and suffering in a communist prison, I had an experience which transformed my life; it was as if I experienced heaven in that prison cell. Yes, I have seen the power of God in my life! Not some emotional experience in a conference, but step by step walking closer to God – my teenage cry for the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, my two cancers, the prison – and many other problems and miracles. Every step is another miracle towards experiencing the power and glory of God!

In the midst of tribulation

Where is God when we are in the midst of tribulation? - He is right there with us, a very present help in our times of trouble. It is easy to feel God's presence when we are on the mountain top, celebrating His goodness; but the Scripture implies that whilst He is present in our good times, He is very present in our distress. Some years ago I was invited to speak at a conference. The theme was how we can know God, how we can come into His presence. I took as my Scripture Deuteronomy 4:29, 'If from where you are you shall seek the Lord Your God you shall find Him'. You will find God when you are in tribulation, when all the problems of life have come on you. God will use the very circumstances you are in to work a miracle in a demonstration of His Power. 

Prayer for our families (with Vinesong)

It is so important to pray for our loved ones. As you know, not only am I a father, but I am a grandfather and great-grandfather, so I feel a burden to pray for their futures: join with me in prayer as we pray blessing upon all our families at this time of distress in our nation. The Scripture teaches, 'The Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments' (Deuteronomy 7.9). What a wonderful promise!
