The Holy Spirit | John 14 & Acts 1 (Part 2)

I burn with the Fire of the Holy Spirit. But why do I desire the Spirit so much? When I was a teenager, my father said that it is not just preaching which brings people to repentance. He said you’ve not yet received the Holy Spirit; he told me, the Bible says Jesus taught His disciples the first lesson in evangelism when He said, “When the Holy Spirit is come, He (not you, David), He, will convict the world of sin, righteousness and judgement.” My father said, you need the Holy Spirit. So immediately, sitting on my bed, I asked him to lay his hands on me and pray. But nothing happened. Even though he had received the Holy Spirit himself in the early days, I did not receive this blessing from him.
I was now totally obsessed. I went everywhere asking people to pray with me. Nothing. I spent more than a year searching, asking people to pray, no one could help. I started fasting and praying, I KNEW what I wanted. In prayer I was asking the Lord – fill me. Even though I was an ambitious, competitive teenager with my life in front of me, I tried to empty myself of everything, so that when I received, I would be 99 percent Holy Spirit and only 1 percent me, 1 percent myself.
The early disciples only waited fifty days after the Resurrection, only ten days after the Ascension. I waited over a year for the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. But it was worth it. 

The Holy Spirit | John 14 & Acts 1 (Part 1)

'Whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it,' (John 14.12-14, NIV). 
Where is the Power in the Church? I am concerned that the Church has lost sight of the power and effectiveness of the Pentecost experience. We all need to be empowered by the Holy Spirit. The Christian who wants to be effective in ministry first needs to be filled by the Spirit. 
The more I study the life of Christ, the more I realise the influence and the Power of the Holy Spirit working in Him, in His life and ministry. Just as the disciples had to wait in Jerusalem until the Holy Spirit came before they could begin their ministry, so Jesus Himself did not begin His powerful public ministry until after He had received the Holy Spirit! Matt 3.16-17; Mk 1.9-12; Luke 3.21. That same Holy Spirit who was in Christ should be in us! And the Holy Spirit who has begun working in us, will continue until the Day Christ returns!

Original Air Date: 7 December 2015: John the Baptist was searching for the Messiah; he was always talking about this Man who would redeem the world. I believe that John was searching in the same way that many of you are searching. He wanted to know the truth. He wanted to know reality. John had heard about Jesus, so he sent his disciples to ask, 'Are You the Messiah, the One who will redeem the world?' John's doubt might have arisen from his own circumstances. Like John, I too have been in prison, left feeling abandoned and forsaken, but through it all, there was a hunger deep in my heart for Jesus, to know the reality of His power. I don't want empty religion or ceremony, I want Jesus, the Son of God, who can break every chain and set me free!

Be Strong and Courageous | 1 Chronicles 28&29 (Part 3)

It is one thing to dream, but it is the reality which counts. God had so impressed on me over the years the importance of never making a statement unless I intended in the Power of the Spirit to carry it out. This was one of the reasons behind all my adventures in those early expeditions to Jerusalem which had opened the door for God to use me in Bible smuggling and had taken me so dramatically behind the Iron Curtain as it was in those days. 
The hunger in my heart, which had driven me to go to Jerusalem all those years ago, is still the underlying reason for the whole vision which burns so deeply in my heart today: the desire to see the Power of God poured out today in greater measure than at Pentecost!
The greatest command is to evangelise! God pours out His Spirit for a reason – so that we can evangelise. Every revival has died out when they stopped evangelising. Possess the land! Preach the Gospel, heal the sick. God said it! Believe it! Act on it!

Be Strong and Courageous | 1 Chronicles 28&29 | (Part 2)

In 1993 I found in Siberia a nation almost totally without God, one of the least evangelised areas of the world – without church or Bible, where most have never heard the Name of Jesus or the Gospel. I then had a vision for mass evangelism, but it would require the support of so many people. When I asked Him, ‘What if no one will join me, what if there is not enough money?’ God gave me 1 Chronicles 29, where King David gives Solomon his son all the gold and silver, the materials and the men to build the Temple. At first, I was disappointed, because all my life I have seen myself as David, a fighting man, and I had the same desire in my heart as he had, to build a Temple, (but a spiritual Temple, not a physical one), to demonstrate the Glory of God on earth to an unbelieving world! I did not want to be Solomon, I did not ‘get the picture’ – until the Lord showed me that, in this context, He Himself was David, and I was Solomon. Here the Scripture gives a most precious promise, when God says of Solomon, ‘I will be his Father, and he will be My son!’ God’s promise to me, was that He Himself (as my Father) would give me (as Solomon, as His son) the men, the money and the materials to do the job! At that time, I had less than zero in the bank account – I had spent all I had on evangelism in East Europe and Ukraine – my database was only two thousand people, my German organiser had confused and lost the lists compiled from the great East-West Eurovision Conferences. But this venture would cost two million pounds sterling – in those days! When I fainted at the enormity of the task, God gave me 1 Chronicles 28.20, ‘Be strong and of good courage, and DO IT!’ I was reminded of a powerful song that sustained and meant so much to me through these years of change – ‘Jesus never fails’!

Healed of Lung Cancer (with Vinesong) | Legacy Episode

Jesus said 'lay your hands on the sick and they shall recover'. If you are in need of healing put your hand where the sickness is and say this prayer in faith and with conviction. - Then do what you could not do!
I know Jesus is alive! I believe the Bible: God cannot lie! Your Word says Jesus took my sickness and healed me - so by faith I take my healing. In Jesus' Name I will fight in prayer and in the Word of God until I am healed! I command you devil, get out of my body! My body is a Temple of the Holy Spirit. Devil, get out of my life, my home, my family! In Jesus' Name I defeat you! I will not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord! And I will live in health and victory until Jesus comes! Amen!

Be Strong and Courageous | 1 Chronicles 28&29 (Part 1)

Then King David rose to his feet and said, “Hear me, my brethren and my people: I had it in my heart to build a house of rest for the ark of the covenant of the Lord, and for the footstool of our God, and had made preparations to build it. But God said to me, ‘You shall not build a house for My name, because you have been a man of war and have shed blood.’ ...Now He said to me, ‘It is your son Solomon who shall build My house and My courts; for I have chosen him to be My son, and I will be his Father... Then David gave his son Solomon the plans for the vestibule, its houses, its treasuries, its upper chambers, its inner chambers, and the place of the mercy seat; and the plans for all that he had by the Spirit, of the courts of the house of the Lord, of all the chambers all around, of the treasuries of the house of God, and of the treasuries for the dedicated things... “All this,” said David, “the Lord made me understand in writing, by His hand upon me, all the works of these plans.”
And David said to his son Solomon, 'Be strong and of good courage, and do it; do not fear nor be dismayed, for the Lord God – my God – will be with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you, until you have finished all the work for the service of the house of the Lord.' (1 Chronicles 28.3-5, 11-12, 19-20, NKJV)

It is not a physical touch. You touch Him when you call His Name, when you talk to Him. Reach out to Him today. One word from Jesus can calm the storm, heal your broken heart. Jesus says to you today, 'Come unto Me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.'

God's absolute faithfulness | Numbers and Psalms (Part 2)

In December 2002, as part of the process of getting a resident’s permit in Ukraine, in order to prove I did not have TB which is endemic out there, I had to have a lung X-ray. But the doctors called me back, took more X-rays, and then told me I had a shadow on my lung and that I had pneumonia. Probably I had already had it for over a month, because I remember a fever had started on the last day of October while I was evangelising in Siberia.
Back in England I was treated with antibiotics, but after two courses of treatment I went again for X-rays and the patch on my lung was bigger. The doctors became extremely worried, they didn’t want me to travel overseas and they set up exhaustive tests in a hurry. They said bluntly, ‘It’s not pneumonia, you have lung cancer.’
I believe in prayer and in a God of miracles. But I am faced with a challenge: do I really believe God or not? I had to go for a bronchoscopy when they would put a camera down my lung and take a sample of the growth. The doctors had already fast-tracked me into a process which would lead to an operation to remove all or part of my right lung. The only question, how much of my lung they would take away?
God said to me, ‘David, you’ve got a mountain in your life that you’ve got to move, and that mountain is to get that cancer out from your lung. If you can believe that without an operation you can be completely healed, then nothing will be impossible from there on.’ Now desperately seeking God’s answer from Scripture, I was reading from Jeremiah 33:6, ‘I will bring health and healing’; and Jeremiah 33:20-21, ‘I will not break my covenant with David’; and Psalm 89:35, ‘I will not lie to David’; and ‘Is anything impossible with God?’ (Jeremiah 32:17&27).
A few months later I was in the hospital, tubes down my lung looking for cancer – but God had already given me the answer, I knew it was gone. The doctors looked at me in amazement and said, ‘You have no cancer!’

"God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good? Behold, I have received a command to bless; He has blessed, and I cannot reverse it," (Numbers 23.19-20).
Balaam was paid by Balak to curse the people of God. But this is what Balaam said, “God is not a man that He should lie, neither a son of man that He should repent (change His mind) – what He said, shall He not do it, and what He has spoken will He not make it happen?!” God cannot lie, He cannot change what He has said. And in the next verse Balaam says, God has blessed, no one can change it! When you have learnt power with God, God will begin to bless your life, your home, your family, your finance, your job – everything about your life!

Original Air Date: 6 March 2015. Jesus says, 'Behold I stand at the door and knock. If any man will open the door, I will come in!' The real life of faith, of being a Christian, of receiving forgiveness and healing is in knowing Jesus. I try to tell people how easy it is to receive Him. All you have to do is be like a drowning man: stop struggling, let go of your tiny piece of flotsam and come into His open arms.
So many listening to this have secret problems which you cannot share. They are too deep, too hurtful, you cannot open up. Tell everything to Jesus. It's the only way to be healed, delivered, set free. Talk to Him. He's listening. Ask Him to forgive your sin, to heal you. He loves you.

Healing ministry in the Church | Matthew 9 & Mark 16 (Part 3)

Jesus says in John 14:10-11, “Do you not believe that I am IN the Father, and the Father IN Me? The words that I speak, I speak not of Myself, but the Father who LIVES IN Me, HE does the works! Believe for the works’ sake!” And in v12, “He that believes in Me, the works that I do, he shall do also – and GREATER WORKS THAN THESE shall he do because I go to My Father.”
Jesus is teaching us that IF WE BELIEVE in Him, once He has gone back to be with His Father, we then on earth HAVE to carry on the work that He did – we HAVE to do what He did! So many people seem to read John 14 without seemingly being able to believe it.  
 
 

Healing ministry in the Church | Matthew 9 & Mark 16 (Part 2)

In Acts 1:8 Jesus said, “You shall receive power after the Holy Ghost is come upon you, and you shall be witnesses.” The clear promise is that HIS power would be in US. Also that we would become witnesses. A witness is one who sees something and reports on it. We need to see, experience and witness God’s miraculous power in action! Not merely by sitting and waiting, but by making it happen through the power of God. Get a vision and make it happen!
I have seen many miracles. In a period of five years, only in Russia and Ukraine, we recorded more than 20,000 healings! I have a very long record with the KGB! One year I arrived in a city in Russia and they were waiting to stop me preaching – but their biggest problem was not the preaching, it was the miracles of healing! They are not afraid of preachers – they are afraid of the Power of God! They asked me, “What is your authority to heal the sick?” We opened the Word of God and showed them Mark 16, “This is what God tells us to do, it’s in the Bible, ‘Lay hands on the sick and they WILL be healed!’ We’re going to do what the Bible says,” and they couldn’t stop us!

Call upon Jesus! When you are in distress, when you are in trouble, when all the problems of life have come upon you, you will find God if you search for Him from just where you are. Today, God has given you a solemn promise of a glorious future. I want you to let these words sink into your spirit this year: God has a bright future for you, He is bringing you out into abundance. An abundance of health, joy, peace: He will give you an abundance of every good thing. You've been through the fire now it's time to enjoy His blessing (Ps 66:12).
Will you come home to your Father's love? If you want this new life, if you will receive Him, I want to pray with you: 'Oh God, become a Father to those who are listening to this, comfort and deliver them. Give them a new hope and a bright future in Jesus' Name.'
